The story of Ilha Grande

16 Apr

The story of Ilha Grande continued on to the next day when we set for Lopez Mendes, a beach ranked as one of Brazil’s best.

Not sure what to look for in a beach anymore, as they all look pretty nifty to me, and I have no idea how Brazil ranks any of them.  But I suppose Lopez Mendes was pretty cool indeed, with some awesome waves and a dramatic setting between two sets of mountains.

Above was a shot taken en route to the beach.  It was a 2 and a half hour hike to get to beach.  Oddly enough though, I don’t seem to have any pictures of the highly ranked beach itself.

The day had a most unbelievable ending as well.

The clouds darkened and before the rain came to pass, we hopped aboard a boat to take us back into town.

I sat in front, on the spear that juts out in front of the hull.  It was a movie like moment.  I felt like I was alone, truly travelling the world on a boat like I had once planned.  It was me and the water and I had left all of my problems on shore.  I decided then and there that I would be a vagabond for sometime to come, and that there was truly no reason to rush home just yet.
